About me
Life long Wisconsinite who has been at this "teaching Science thing" for most of the last 30 years, and I still enjoy doing what I do. I have been teaching virtually since 2016, as my PhD was losing momentum at the UW. Teaching live lessons every school day is what I do. Trying to assure all learners achieve "essential understanding" and hopefully a bit more has its unique challenges in the virtual environment.
I am a second generation Science teacher. My dad retired the same year I landed my first real job. Dad taught Physics and Chemistry at Whitnall High School in Hales Corners. I grew up a bit down the road in Wind Lake. I became a teacher because I had a strong desire to coach soccer, otherwise I might be an expert on ectomycoryzal fungi. Early in my career I found out that 8th graders, and students in general, are almost as interesting. My professional passion shifted to teaching and learning.
